Brutus Gold's Love Train

All aboard the Love Train on Millennium Square this summer

One of the most popular club nights in the city’s history will return to Leeds this summer when the legendary Love Train takes over Millennium Square.

Seventies disco icon Brutus Gold will take charge of the retro spectacular on August 10 in what will be one of the highlights of this year’s Millennium Square Summer Series.

The incredible show, which began life at the former Town and Country Club, features an entourage of dancers and performers, meticulously dressed in funky polyester shirts and show-stopping flares

The likes of Chad Valley, Disco Dick, Tony Martini, Willis Hardy Freeman, Ana Glypta, Clarence Hamilton Jnr and Angel De Lyte will all join Brutus on stage to make it a night to remember along with a special appearance by former Rose Royce lead singer Gwen Dickey performing some of their iconic hits live including Car Wash, Is it Love You’re After and Wishing on a Star.

Leeds based DJ Steve Luigi will also be going back to his disco roots to help get the party started as part of the evening’s entertainment.

The Love Train ran for several years between 1993 and 2000, bringing a night of huge disco anthems to Leeds and welcoming around 500,000 people in its original run.

Over the past two decades, Brutus Gold and his Love Train have performed for the likes of Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Tina Turner, as well as even putting on a show for Inter Milan at Italy’s biggest stadium, the San Siro together with regular events in Manchester, Newcastle and in recent years returning to Leeds for a Christmas special in its spiritual home at the 02 Academy.

Brutus Gold said: “Leeds has a special place in my heart as it is where the Love Train was first performed back in 1993 and it is always an honour to be able to take to the stage in front of our loyal fans who have followed us over the years.

“We are thrilled that dynamite disco diva Gwen Dickey will be joining us on stage and we will be pulling out all the stops to make this a memorable occasion for the city and encourage everyone to don their best 70’s disco outfits and make it a real night to remember! Hellllooooooooo Yorrrrrrkshyyyyerrrrr!!!!"

Organised in partnership with Leeds City Council, the event take place on Friday, August 10 with doors from 6.30pm and entertainment starting from 7pm.
