Getting Around Light Night Leeds

Wednesday and Thursday 6pm to 10pm

Light Night Leeds’ very own wheelchair and pram accessible hop on hop off bus service is free to all.  Priority will be given to those with access needs. Prams may need to be folded if possible. Bus stops are available for all the different zones. Buses run approximately every 15 mins.

There will be 3 routes to choose from during the event.

Light Night Rider East Loop Route:

The Headrow (Stop Headrow D) –  Albion Street (Stop
Hearow L) – Woodhouse LAne Northbound (Stop Merrion B) – University of Leeds
(Stop Uni B) – Woodhouse Lane Southbound (Stop Merrion C) – Vicar Lane (Stop
Victoria N) – VIcar Lane (Stop Corn Exchange D) – York Street (Stop Cultural C
– Outside the Bus Station) – The Headrow (Stop Headrow D)

Light Night Rider North & West Loop Route:

Whitehall Road Eastbound (Stop Wellington N) – King Street
(Stop Wellington J) – East Parade (Stop Civic S) – Calverley Street Northbound
(Stop Civic G) – University of Leeds (Stop Uni C) – Calverley Street Southbound
(Stop Civic I) – Whitehall Road Eastbound (Stop Wellington N)

Light Night Rider South Loop Route:

Meadow Lane (Stop Southbank D) – Lower Briggate (Stop
Trinity L) –  Boar Lane (Stop Trinity O) – Neville Street (Stop
Station F) – Great Wilson Street (Stop Southbank F) – Crown Point Road nr. The
Tetley (Stop Crown Point E) – Black Bull Street nr. Leeds Dock (Stop Leeds Dock
B) – Meadow Lane (Stop Southbank D)

The PR1 Elland Road and PR3 Stourton Park and Ride facilities will remain open late especially for Light Night Leeds.

Buses will be running every 12-15 minutes at peak times from Elland Road and Stourton straight to the city centre with extended hours to ensure you don’t miss a moment of the magic. The last buses from Leeds City Centre will depart from Boar Lane (Trinity P) to Elland Road (PR1) at 23:57 and from Lower Briggate (Trinity K) to Stourton (PR3) at 23:33.

Return tickets are £3 per person with up to three children (under 19) travelling free with every fare-paying adult.

Please note that Temple Green Park and Ride will not operate extended hours during Light Night and the last bus from Lower Briggate (Trinity L) will depart at 20:11.

Why not take advantage of the range of bus services travelling in and out of the city during Light Night.  Make your destination your first stop at Light Night at Leeds Bus Station where you will be greeted by the magnificent Blood Moon. Cyclists 

· Proceed with caution and abide by-laws and restrictions in place for the event

· Be mindful of cycle lane closures on Calverley St, City Square, Cookridge Street, Park Row & The Headrow.  Further details can be found on our road closure page.

· If you’re travelling to Leeds by train, there is cycle parking on Leeds station platforms

· Tips on how to securely lock your bike

· Ensure your bike is equipped with working front and rear lights, as well as reflectors

· Wearing bright or reflective clothing and adding extra reflective details like spoke reflectors or tape, will help you stay visible

Pedestrians 

· Stay safe during Light Night by making sure you’re visible on the streets, whether you’re walking or wheeling

· Wear bright or reflective clothing 

· Hi-vis bags or accessories like reflective armbands and stickers on your coat or bag can help drivers see you

· Stick to footpaths where possible, and if there isn’t one, walk on the right side of the road facing traffic

Thanks to our sponsors Leeds Dock, you will be able to take a boat ride along
the canal on a water taxi from Leeds Station Southern Entrance to Leeds Dock. Please note there are very limited places available and services may be affected by poor weather. Please check the ‘Leeds Dock Water Taxis’ Facebook page for latest updates.  Tickets are £3 per person.  Water taxis run approximately every 15 minutes

We strongly encourage using public transport, cycling or walking to Light Night if you can, but if you need to bring your car we ask that you consider off-setting your carbon footprint by making a donation to Love Leeds Parks via the Support Us section of our website.  You can also follow a link to calculate your carbon footprint!

If you need to bring your car, please see the Travel map to work out your best route into the city centre. You will find highlighted on the map a number of car parks including and car parks which have slightly altered access to accommodate road closures associated with the event.  The map also shows locations of Blue Badge parking bays which remain available for use during the festival.
